Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart, believes that Craiglist is a powerful marketing tool for illegal sex workers. The far-reaching online community occupies 450 cities in 50 countries. Utilizing the free advertising services offered by Craigslist allows sex workers to maximize their profits with less risk.

Over the years law enforcement has used the service to track down "pimps" and "prostitutes" with great success. Using false information and decoys, they have apprehended and arrested pedophiles and sex workers.It is ironic how the world oldest profession can be enhanced by the information design technology boom.
